EDID 6509 challenges learners to identify learning and performance problems and to design and evaluate prototypes of a solution. The course affords learners realistic experiences of working with a team and a client whilst simultaneously developing one’s intuition to create simple yet effective designs. Through this experience, learners will begin to appreciate their own unique ideas and the multiplicity of ideas that can be engendered from a problem. Moreover, the course also encourages the culminating and accepting of other participant’s diverse ideas and shows learners how to skillfully and fruitfully use those ideas by turning them into iterations. Consequently, learners who take this course will acquire many skills and attitudes including collaborative, creative and leadership skills among others. The course also allows learners to process and reflect on their weaknesses for instance, to make mistakes, accept and acknowledge those mistakes and to reflect and learn from them going forward. Personally, for my growth, I had to be mindful of not only my strengths and weaknesses but to also notice when group think was occurring in my fellow groupmates. This led to relying on my leadership skills and while they were not always successful, I reflected and chartered different strategies that I could use going forward.
The artefact that follows is a website created after working cooperatively and collaboratively with my groupmates. It features my own individual designs and explains why I chose to make the changes that I did along with final iterations of each environment. Select the link to peruse the site.
