The objective of this course is to allow participants to become progressive thinkers and problem solvers as it relates to providing solutions to organisational problems or opportunities. Organisations can be considered complex environments and many issues can occur due to environmental, organisational or human performance concerns. When these issues arise, organisations fail to perform at their maximum potential and there is likely to be a decrease in efficiency and productivity. The course EDID 6502: Analysing Human Performance, prepares learners to manage this by identifying problems and opportunities in the workplace, finding out the cause for their existence and implementing solutions so that there would be an improved and more efficient organisation or performer.
Participants who take this course will start to look at learning as more than just training or formal learning and will make connections to adult learning and incidental learning, andragogy and transformative learning theory to name a few. Whilst formal learning may be routine, the course focuses on learning or modifying behaviour in an organisational context which will have unique implications. It therefore views learning as action-based, a process of continuous improvement and reflective to name a few (Watkins & Marsick, 2006). As a result of the systematic process, the instructional designer wears many hats and the course exposes learners to each role in analysing human performance. These diverse interactions result in participants developing task- and interpersonal skills.
